They call me exso.
Photography has always been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. It started when my dad had gifted me with a entry level dslr as a child. After playing around with taking various styles of photos, and photoshop for years... it turned into more than just a hobby. I found my self starting to really invest time into teaching myself the lingo, techniques and practicing the skill.
Photographs have always been a source of happiness for me. Creating and capturing beautiful moments are what I yearn for. I have always been the person who took photographs for everyone surrounding me. There was never a moment I didn't have my camera with me. Naturally loved ones constantly encouraged me to pursue photography, but I always doubted myself.
As a WOC, (Tamil - South Asian), photography was mainly a male dominated field in my culture, my parents at the time didn't approve of me taking it into a career aspect, other than a hobby. I completed my B.S.W and am currently a Registered Social Worker, however it wasn't until my last year of undergrad I really started to take it seriously and invest in my craft.
Why exso? The name exso was originated from one of my girlfriends who started calling me 'xo' about 3 years ago; I believe it was because I used to have 'xo' in every username possible, or end every sentence with it... but to be completely honest I don't really know; but its stuck with me. Now, Its grown to be apart of my identity, and I love it.
My photography has grown to be influenced heavily from a fashion and story telling approach. I am inspired by creating candid, beautiful moments incorporating beautiful colour and simplicity.
Thank you for stopping by, and I hope we can continue to inspire one another. Feel free to write to me!
